It was a glorious Babonneau afternoon Thursday 10 June at about 1:00pm when the Prime Minister, Hon Allen Chastanet, Minister of Education, Hon Gale Rigobert, District Parliamentarian, Hon Ezekiel Joseph, and CEO of Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd. (CIE), Mr Rayneau Gajadhar assembled at La Guerre Primary School Grounds for a Sod Turning Ceremony to commemorate the beginning of construction of the smart, exciting and innovative new facility designed for primary schoolers in the community.
Invited guests, other minister(s) and crews assembled
at the school grounds. From here they walked to the La Guerre Primary School
building site where the sod was turned by the CEO of CIE Ltd with assistance
from Minister of Education while the Prime Minister and Parliamentary
Representative looked on.
A sod turning ceremony, also referred to as ground breaking, is a traditional ceremony that celebrates the first day of construction for a building.
The new La Guerre Primary school building will comprise a basement, ground floor and a top floor. The top floor will house four classrooms, a library/IT laboratory, and a music room. The ground floor will house four classrooms, a sick bay, the staff room and the Principals office. The basement will house an open breezeway, male and female washroom facilities, and a janitorial storage area
At the conclusion of the Ceremony, guests were
then treated to an afternoon delecacy to commemorate the exciting occasion.
