BON FETE KWEYOLE FROM RAYNEAU - CULTURE HEALS!

The grand finale of St Lucia’s 38th Creole Heritage Month, Jounen Kwéyòl, climaxes on Sunday, October30, 2022 in Central Castries and Choiseul.

Jounen Kwéyòl, also known as “Creole Day,” is a special time on the island of Saint Lucia. Observed on the last Sunday in October, this day celebrates the French/African dialect widely spoken in Saint Lucia.

The Folk Research Center’s aim for the festival is to unite our people in celebrating our culture; not merely in terms of food and dress but in all other aspects that are important for national development.

The theme this year for the creole month is "Culture Heals."

A unique mix of creole (Kwéyòl) food, music, games, and folklore give this festival a wholly unique flavor, unlike anything else in the Caribbean.

BON FET JOUNEN KWEYOL LAKAY

Once again Saint Lucia authoriti have restricted Jounen Kweyol celebrations this year to strictly family activities, in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Rayneau Group of Companies Ltd plead with families to make their event as safe as possible for guests. Keep it small and short. Encourage people to wear masks and ensure enough space for each guest to maintain at least a 1-metre distance from others. Help your guests follow COVID-19 prevention measures: provide masks, alcohol-based hand sanitizer or access to soap and water, tissues and bins with lids that close.
