During a recent tour of the work site led by Rayneau Group, the significance of the ongoing road rehabilitation project in the constituency of St. John, Grenada was clearly underscored.
The Parliamentary Representative for the constituency, Hon. Kerryne James, described the project as one of the most critical infrastructure developments for the area and the wider western corridor.
“This is one of the most important infrastructure projects for the constituency of St. John and, by extension, for the entire western road. For well over 28 years, this road has come under great scrutiny, and for motorists and pedestrians alike, it has been a challenge getting to and from St. George’s on the way to the west coast.”
Her remarks reflect the lived reality of residents who have endured years of difficulty navigating this key route.
Also present on the tour was Rayneau Group CEO, Mr. Rayneau Gajadhar, who reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering meaningful infrastructure solutions.
“I am happy to say that work has commenced, as you will have seen throughout this video. The work is well underway, and we have made tremendous progress so far. I am also pleased that the Ministry of Infrastructure, together with the Rayneau company, has made this road a priority.”
Mr. Gajadhar further emphasized that while the project had been discussed in previous years, it has now transitioned into a fully active and advancing development—a sign that long-standing concerns are finally being addressed.
While the focus is on St. John, the impact stretches far beyond.
This roadway is a critical link:
Connecting communities to economic hubs
Supporting tourism and transport along the west coast
Improving safety for drivers and pedestrians
Reducing travel time and vehicle wear
In short—this project strengthens the entire western road network.
As highlighted in the remarks:
“For well over 28 years, this road has come under great scrutiny… but today, I am happy to say that work has commenced and is well underway.”
That statement carries weight.
Because it reflects something deeper:
✔ Government commitment
✔ Private sector capability
✔ Community expectation finally being met
