As the rays of the
sun dance on our beautiful shores, St. Lucia's heart beats with a collective
sense of pride and joy. Today September 24th, 2024, we will witness the
triumphant return of Julien Alfred, our very own gold and silver medalist from
the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Alfred made history by claiming gold in the
100 meters with a lifetime best and national record of 10.72 seconds, and also
secured a silver medal in the 200 meters at the prestigious event.
A daughter of this land, Julien's achievements on the global stage have not only etched her name in the annals of sports history but have also elevated the spirit of an entire nation.
We join the entire nation in celebrating Julien’s achievements. Her golden run not only represents victory but also symbolizes the hopes and dreams of every young person on this island. It reminds us all that no dream is too big and no goal is out of reach. As the authorities declare September 27th a public holiday (Julien Alfred's Day), let us not just revel in her success but also be inspired by her journey.
Here is a Reggae1 Tribute song composed and sang by Lady Stone to Julien.
Julien, you have
made us proud beyond measure. Your footsteps on the track have carved a path of
inspiration for generations to come. As you return home, know that you are not
just a hero in the eyes of your family but in the hearts of every St. Lucian.
Today, we don’t just welcome an athlete; we welcome home a symbol of hope,
perseverance, and excellence.
Rayneau Group of Companies is honored to stand 2 you, Julien. Welcome home, our champion!
