A NEW CHAPTER IN ST JUDE HOSPITAL RECONSTRUCTION

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, we discussed the pivotal role of Rayneau Gajadhar in the ongoing St. Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project. During that blog post, Mr. Gajadhar, CEO of Construction and Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd., emphasized the importance of collaboration with a Saudi firm to complete the remaining buildings under the Saudi Fund's portion of the project. His confidence in securing the bid and commitment to delivering swift results gave hope to a community long in need of a fully operational hospital.

Fast forward to today, we celebrate a significant milestone in this journey: the official signing of the contract for Phase Two of the St. Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project (SJHRP). Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd., led by Mr. Gajadhar, has successfully been awarded one of two major contracts, in partnership with a Saudi firm. This momentous achievement is a testament to his team's dedication and the spirit of international cooperation. Congratulations to Team Rayneau!

This new contract marks the start of the second phase of SJHRP, a key stage in restoring the hospital to its full operational capacity. The project, which was originally delayed, now moves closer to completion, offering the promise of adequate and modern healthcare facilities for the people of St. Lucia.

The Signing

The contracts, awarded through a joint venture between local enterprises and Saudi firms, reflect the strong international collaboration involved in the effort. The first, a USD $2.9 million supervision contract, has been awarded to a joint venture between a Saudi firm and Caribbean Consulting Engineers. The second, a USD $63 million implementation or works contract, sees Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd. partnering with the Arab Tolls Constructing Company.

                                                    The Prime Minister

At the signing ceremony, Prime Minister Philip Pierre highlighted the significance of this project for the health and well-being of the St. Lucian people. “It's about creating an environment where health care is not just accessible but is comprehensive and compassionate," he said. "This project will serve as a cornerstone in our mission to provide every citizen the opportunity to live a healthier and fuller lifestyle.”

                                                      Minister of Health

Moses “Moosa” Jn Baptiste, Minister for Health, also spoke on the occasion, reaffirming the importance of the hospital as a key element in the nation’s healthcare infrastructure. He noted that the hospital would play a pivotal role in reducing out-of-pocket costs for healthcare while improving the quality and accessibility of services. “It is like a clarion call for all the people to complete this project," he remarked. "Not just for the people of the South and for those who visit the hospital, but as a national symbol of resilience and keeping our promises."

The  Rayneau Team of CIE Ltd. is proud to contribute to this vital national project, working hand in hand with the government and the people of St. Lucia to ensure its successful completion. Phase Two marks not just another step forward in construction but a giant leap toward fulfilling the healthcare needs of the nation.

With the signing of these contracts, the people of St. Lucia can look forward to the swift completion of the hospital and the long-awaited improvements to their healthcare infrastructure. Congratulations once again to Rayneau Gajadhar, CIE Ltd., and their Saudi partners for their commitment to delivering this critical project.

Stay tuned for more updates as we follow the progress of the St. Jude Hospital Reconstruction Project.
