Mr Rayneau Gajadhar, Team leader of Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd, is pleased with the pace at which work is progressing on the construction of the two apartment complexes, consisting of fifty one apartments and eight commercial spaces at the Upper River Bank Housing Development in Roseau, Dominica.
As the Government of Dominica moves towards creating a
modern and resilient city, Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, who visited
the site earlier this month to get a first-hand view of the project’s progress,
explained that, “Roseau has had a particular challenge for many decades, of
people not having access to lands in the city to build. And one of the things
that we wanted to do was to maintain the uniqueness of the city of Roseau. So
it is important for us to keep and maintain that uniqueness and so the
commitment to the city of Roseau is to build 150 residences in total.”
Prime Minister Skerrit added that Government’s plan is to
create a community while creating employment for those who will be living in
these apartments.
Member of Parliament for the Roseau Central Constituency, Hon Melissa Skerrit, noted that she is excited for this development in her constituency.
In an earlier statement, according to the Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Reginald Austrie, the project entails two buildings, five storeys each; each building containing 26 two bedroom units, which will give a total of 52 bedroom units and four three bedroom units.
