Major national projects don’t move forward on good intentions alone — they move forward with the right equipment, reliable supply chains, and strong regional partnerships. That reality was on full display earlier this week when Her Excellency the Governor of Montserrat, Ms. Harriet Cross, visited the construction site of Montserrat’s new hospital to see first-hand the progress being made on this transformative healthcare project.
The Governor was joined by a visiting team from the United Kingdom, along with key local officials including Honourable Minister of Health Dr. Ingrid Buffonge, Acting Permanent Secretary Mrs. Viona Alexander-Smith, Hospital Project Manager Mr. Carlos Pena, and members of the Programme Management Office and the Governor’s Office. Together, they reviewed milestones, discussed next steps, and assessed the pace and quality of the works underway.
Governor Cross expressed her satisfaction with the progress of construction and commended the project teams for their strong coordination and effective management of this critical national investment.
Behind every successful construction project is a network of dependable suppliers ensuring that contractors have access to the machinery, tools, and industrial solutions needed to keep work moving efficiently and safely. Construction & Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd. is proud to be part of that support network, helping to power the works through dependable equipment supply and technical solutions tailored to Caribbean construction environments.
From earth-moving and material-handling equipment to essential job-site tools and accessories, CIE’s mission has always been simple: keep projects productive, on schedule, and built to last. For a project as vital as a national hospital, reliability is not optional — it is essential.
Healthcare infrastructure carries special responsibility. Hospitals must be built to withstand harsh weather, heavy use, and long operational lifespans. That means construction teams must rely on equipment that performs consistently under pressure, and suppliers who understand the realities of island logistics, shipping schedules, and technical support needs. CIE’s regional experience allows it to bridge that gap between global manufacturers and local project requirements.
The new hospital represents a major step forward for Montserrat, aiming to deliver modern, resilient, and patient-focused healthcare services for generations to come. It will strengthen the island’s ability to respond to emergencies, improve routine medical care, and reduce the need for overseas treatment for many services.
The project is funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), reflecting strong international confidence in the development path being pursued by Montserrat. But while funding enables projects, it is the on-the-ground execution — supported by dependable equipment and technical supply — that ultimately turns blueprints into buildings.
At CIE, we take pride in supporting infrastructure that truly matters. Whether it’s hospitals, roads, ports, schools, or housing developments, our role remains the same: help builders build better by providing the tools and equipment that keep progress moving.
As construction continues on Montserrat’s new hospital, CIE remains committed to standing with the teams on the ground — supporting productivity, safety, and quality at every stage of the build.
Because when you’re building healthcare for a nation, every detail counts — and every reliable machine makes a difference. 🏗️💪
