Each year, forecasts are issued about the upcoming
hurricane season, which are extremely important as they allow us to be prepared
for the possible consequences these meteorological phenomena may bring and be
more alert.
Hurricane season forecasts give an estimate of the
number of tropical hurricanes that are expected in this season. The ability and
accuracy of these forecasts depends on factors such as sea surface temperatures
and oscillations of the global climate system
For the entire Atlantic hurricane season, meteorologists forecasts there will be a total of nine to 15 named storms (39 mph or higher
winds), of which four to eight could become hurricanes (74 mph or higher
winds), including two to four major hurricanes (111 mph or higher winds).
An average hurricane season produces 12 named
storms, of which six become hurricanes, including three major hurricanes.
In spite of the near average season one must be
cognizant of the fact that it only takes one storm to create havoc. At Rayneau, we encourage all St Lucians to shop hurricane supplies and be prepared.
Below are
hurricane supplies available at our stores at Monchy, Babonneau, Corinth and
Vide Bouteille. #ShopRayneau
