2 Primary ReasonsTo Paint The Interior Of Your Home

Michael Sebastien
I recently posed this question to Michael Sebastien, our Customer Sales Representative in the Paints and Sundries Department. Why should you paint rooms on the interior of a house? “You will be better able to answer this question when the paint job is completed.” He answered. “At that time you will be proud of the beautiful new rooms that you have created. An interior paint job makes the home more attractive, clean, fresh and beautiful, as if it was brand new! Nothing improves the appearance of the home better than a fresh paint job.”

“Another reason to paint an interior is to increase the value of a home. If you intend on selling your house, it will almost always sell shortly after the application of the paint job, and for a higher price than it would have before. If you have  a vacant home that has been on the market for a long time with no offers, a new coat of paint almost always sells the home within a couple of months .”

When asked about preparations for a painting job, Michael was precise with his answers. “Before you paint there may be holes or cracks in the walls and ceiling. Also furniture often makes unattractive marks on the walls. You may need to compound, sand and prime the walls before starting.” He believes that a good interior house painting totally transforms a home. One of the greatest pleasures he takes in his job he says, is that he loves to create and mix paint colours. “I love to see how good it makes the customers feel when the colour comes out just right. They are always thrilled and grateful for what I have produced.”

To carry out a successful paint job, Michael says you will need the following which are in stock at our store:-
  •          Tape,
  •          drop cloth,
  •          paint try,
  •          paint rollers and refills,
  •          ladder,
  •          small brushes
  •          Paint

At the Department, Michael makes mention of an array of colours to match your every mood. “We’ve grouped our colours into four mood–inspired collections that are guaranteed to harmonize well – Calm, Luxurious, Fresh and Warm.” The sales rep reiterated.

Calm Colours create a calm, cool and sophisticated atmosphere he says. Calm colours:-
  •          Create space in a room.
  •          Give a room that serene, quiet and peaceful feeling of nostalgia.
  •          Add a breezy quality to the space.
  •          Provide the feeling of freshness and radiance.
  •          Work well in bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms.

In our continued discussion about moods and colours with regards to paints, the young man thinks that the deep tones of luxurious colours are able to create relaxing and embracing areas with dramatic atmospheres. Reds, Deep Blues, Oranges, and Greens add that touch of class and luxury to any space.

Fresh colours he continues “are used to adjust the temperatures in a room and work well in those rooms where there are lots of natural sunlight, while warm colours bring a level of sophistication and subtlety that create a perfect place to retreat to and relax.”  Fresh and warm colours are effective in kitchens/bathrooms and living rooms respectively.

These colours fall in the realm of different shades of reds, blues, greens and yellows
