ONE OF THE BEST ASTRONOMICAL EVENTS TO WITNESS TONIGHT!!

A total lunar eclipse will occur on tonight Sunday May 15, 2015, when the moon passes directly through the Earth’s innermost shadow and can be seen for several hours across half the globe.

Eclipses have caused fear, inspired curiosity, and have been associated with myths, legends and superstitions throughout history and across cultures.  Out of the many superstitions/folklore, here are a few:

  1. In USA - people believe that an eclipse is a sign of the forthcoming of an apocalypse.
  2. In India - it is believed that if you cut yourself during an eclipse you bleed for a longer time and it can leave a scar for a lifetime.
  3. In Tibet - people think that good and bad deeds are multiplied during an eclipse.
  4. In many parts of the world -  pregnant women are advised to stay indoors as it is believed that the dark moon will curse the unborn child.
When the moon passes through the darkest part of the Earth's shadow, called the umbra, it's known as a total lunar eclipse.

The partial eclipse will begin at 10:27 p.m. Sunday, with the total lunar eclipse starting at 11:29 p.m.  The total eclipse will end at 12:53 a.m. Monday, and the partial eclipse will end at 1:55 a.m. Monday.

Though the red hue is most striking during a total lunar eclipse, the moon gets cast in a scarlet light even during partial lunar eclipses. So why does our moon turn red and not black when bathed in Earth's shadow.

Lunar Eclipse
Even though Earth is way bigger than the sun, the light rays are able to bend around the edges of our planet before being reflected onto the moon. Even so, the sun's light first passes through Earth's atmosphere; and during that trek, particles in the atmosphere preferentially scatter the blue light. In that way, the orange and red light bathes the moon's surface, which is why it is often referred to as the "blood moon."

About two lunar eclipses occur each year, and the next will be a total lunar eclipse on  November 8, 2022. There will not be another total lunar eclipse until March 2025.

CIE LTD INSTALLS A CLEAN, FRESH ASPHALT SURFACE ON ST JUDES’ HIGHWAY

During 2020 – 2021 the continuous deterioration of the section of the St Judes’ Highway ( from the old hospital gap to the Spartan Club gap) became a nightmare for commuters plying this route.  Complaints from the minibus drivers and other motorists concerning the deplorable condition of the road which were made to both the district rep and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport were recieved on a daily basis. A gentleman, Stephen Albert, a resident of the area also staged a one-man protest against the poor condition of the road back in January 2022.

The relentless cries of the commuters was finally heard by the relevant authorities, even to the point where the parliamentary rep issued a statement assuring the complainants that attention to their concern will be taken care of soon.

The Rep kept his word, because during the first week of January 2022 work commenced on the St Judes’ Highway by Construction and Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd. During the next few weeks, works on the project entailed

  1. Demolition and Removal of old surface
  2. Grading and Sloping the surface
  3. Preparing the Sub Base.
  4. Installing the Binder and Surface Course.

In spite of a short lull in continuation of the works, work recommenced, and a new asphalt surface was installed on Thursday May, 12, 2022. (Check slide show below). To complete the project, the new asphalt pavement surface was compacted and smoothed. Motorists will now experience a smooth ride and a shiny, attractive finished surface.

Residents and motorists are now happy that this section is finally completed. CIE guarantees the motoring public in the South, a high quality of work that will last for a long time. The La Haut/Banse road is testimony of CIE’s work - quality and durability at its optimum.

FINAL STAGES OF ST JUDES HIGHWAY TO BE COMPLETED ON THURSDAY - ROAD CLOSED

After a short lull in works on the St Judes Highway, work is expected to resume on Thursday May 12, 2022, according to a release from The Department of Infrastructure, Ports and Transport informing motorists of the closure of this road section for a day from 8:00am.

The lull is a necessary stage in asphalting since it allows the works done in the penultimate stage to settle to show signs of any weakness which are then corrected  before the final stage. In the final phase a new asphalt surface is installed on the already supportive structures. This fresh surface will provide a clean, smooth ride.

Photos of work as of January 2022

This stretch of road has been a headache for motorists even reaching to a point where the Member of Parliament for Vieux Fort South, Dr Kenny Anthony had to assure his constituents that work on this road would commence shortly.

Under this project the contractor, Construction and Industrial Products (CIE) Ltd, a subsidiary of Rayneau Group of Companies Ltd., is responsible for its design, finance and construction.

The works are expected to be completed by the end of Thursday, May 12, barring any unforeseen circumstances including inclement weather. Motorists are advised to utilize alternative routes.

RAYNEAU GROUP OF COMPANIES’ TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS THIS MOTHER'S DAY

In light of the fact that Mother’s Day is here, it is only fair to write a tribute to all mothers across our fair Helen.

Today, the 8th of May, is the day we celebrate the women who raised us. They dedicate their lives to us, they’re selfless yet strong, they’re affectionate and protective…It goes without saying that being a mother is one of the toughest, most rewarding jobs out there I reckon.

But one day isn’t enough to show our gratitude for all their hard work and sacrifices to make us happy, safe, and well. They do so much for us, and sometimes, we don’t even realise that. So the least we can do is honor them whenever we get the chance.

Therefore, Rayneau dedicates today’s post to every mother out there! We hope they’ll have the best days with their loved ones, filled with love and joy! They deserve it!

To every mother who spent the night awake by her sick child, nursing them and taking care of them.

To every mother who always worries about their family’s safety other than their own.

To every mother doing the best they can to please their children,

To every mother who worked extra hours in order to provide everything for her children

To every mother supporting their children in every decision they make and encourage them to be the best version of themselves every day.

To every mother who raised a child alone, or children who aren’t of her own.

To every mother who became one without a baby.

To every mother who left us, but still resides in our hearts.

No matter what happens, and no matter what trouble we face, your smile is what helps us get through the day. We would do anything to protect it and cherish you. We love you, and appreciate everything you’ve done for us.

This Mother’s Day, our Team leader wants to thank all the moms in Team Rayneau for what they do for us every day to make us better as a company and as a community. “I also want to thank all the families for sharing those moms with us, especially when work gets in the way. Finally, I want to thank all of you for helping us to live up to our very best during this busy weekend as we go about serving our customers and each other.  Happy Mother’s day from my family to yours!”  Mr Gajadar reiterated.

CIE AWARDED CONTRACT TO STABILIZE MOLINIERE LAND SLIPPAGE IN THE SPICE ISLE

Among the thirteen companies which submitted tenders for the repair works on the Moliniere land slippage restoration project in Grenada, Construction and Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd has been awarded the contract.

Photos of Moliniere Road Slippage

Congratulations Team Rayneau for getting it just right with all the requirements to be successful. Bravo Team!!!

The pronouncement was made by Infrastructure Minister, Senator Norland Cox earlier this week. He also met with members of the community ahead of the commencement of the project which is due to commence in June 2022, to keep them up to date.

Minister Cox says Government has been working speedily to address the issue that has significantly affected livelihoods, businesses, and the transportation sector.

Extensive deterioration of the Moliniere main road in St. George has led to its closure since December 16, 2019, resulting in traffic being re-routed through the village of Mt. Moritz and with some residents forced to vacate the immediate area as the cracks in the road widen and deepen putting the structures of their homes and businesses at risk.

It is worth noting that the Governments of the OECS and beyond have come to the conclusion that Construction and Industrial (CIE) Ltd is a cut above the rest and the quality, efficiency and timely deliveries the Saint Lucian company accomplishes is unmatched.

The video below gives you the scope of work CIE has to undertake for the people of Grenada.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. Mr Rayneau Gajadhar  and his team look forward to interacticg with  the Grenadian people and providing them with the best his company offers.
