Bexon Infant School Gets a Facelift - A "Giving Back to The Community" Gesture.

Imagine walking into a building every morning and being depressed by your surroundings. This is what teachers as well as students of the Bexon Infant School faced - Rayneau Gajadhar is about to change this. Throughout the early part of July there’s been a flurry of activity at the Bexon R C Infant School building as it undergoes a significant face-lift in its 40 year history. Thanks to Mr Gajadhar's Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd.

According to the principal Mrs Martha John, "At a Parents Teachers Association meeting, individual groups where given a task to come up with names of sponsors for a project for the school. One group decided that the school is in need of cleaning and paint job. The members also estimated it would take some time to raise the funds to complete the task. Mr Gajadhar’s name came up and knowing him personally, I decided to contact him. He welcomed the idea.” 

Mrs John continues. "The school is old, and the weather elements have taken their toll on the plant. The school is in dire need of a face-lift she says.  She added that pressure-washing, a coat of fresh paint, combined with cleaning the burglar bars, flowered blocks, plus small masonry works and a touch up to the ceilings in the seven classrooms will further enhance the environment at the school."

While many philantropists may openly boast of their contributions to society Rayneau Gajadhar, Team Leader of Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd (CIE Ltd) is a rare exception.He is of this class of entrepreneurs that speaks little. He rather maintains the philosophic  view of  "Let my work  speak for itself." His company has taken the lead in philantropic works throughout the breadth and length of the island; giving a face-lift to the Bexon R C Infant School being his latest undertaking.

Rayneau Continues to Give Back To the Community

If you were ever asked to point to one of the most responsible corporate citizens on this 238 sq. mi piece of rock of ours, I am sure without a doubt you would have no hesitation in pointing to Rayneau Gajadhar, CEO of RG Group of Companies.

Mr Gajadhar believes in giving back to the community, especially when it serves a good purpose - in so doing he makes the community a better place to live. Giving back is in the DNA of his company.

Every year during the months of July – August his company selects organizations or facilities to rehabilitate their infrastructure "Pro Bono." This year he has chosen to assist the St Lucia Red Cross Society and the Bexon Infant School which assist victims of tragedy and foster the education of our nation’s children respectively. It’s this responsibility that this philanthropist/entrepreneur believes that he owes to his country.

Mr Gajadhar expresses that this is nothing new to his company. “Almost every summer I try to take on a small project…….this year we are taking on the Red Cross building. We are refurbishing the Red Cross building and we are also doing the Bexon Infant School, concurrently….”

Presently work is underway at both institutions. “Right now we have two teams of people – one team at the Bexon Infant School and the other at the Red Cross building, refurbishing it.” He concludes.

These are the kind of things his company does to help out in the communities, he proudly says.

This kind of community involvement by Mr Gajadhar’s Company, as he mentioned earlier, is nothing new. Schools like the Carmen Renee Memorial, Camille Henry, Fond Assau Primary School, the Central Police Station in Castries and a sickbay at the Corinth Secondary School are all examples of community projects that have been done under this “giving back to the community” Initiative.

Come next year Mr Gajadhar will be looking forward to continuing his good works. He is proud to be associated with such an annual initiative and welcomes the opportunity to make his mark in the development of St Lucia.

CIE Ltd - Creating an Impact at Royalton St Lucia Construction Site (slide show)

The Royalton Luxury Resorts company is presently in the process of constructing a number of structures to establish its resorts brand on the island. The construction is taking place in a cove at Cap Estate.

Works at the construction site of the Royalton Luxury Resorts is moving along at a steady pace. The various construction companies involved in the construction are busily executing their respective tasks, to prove their uniqueness, skills and last but not least the quality of their workmanship.

With a work force of about one hundred workers including  four supervisors and over thirty pieces of equipment, Construction Industrial Equipment Ltd  by all accounts is establishing its high standards and work ethic at the construction site, so says Roger Kallo and Zam Rivere, the project and office managers respectively.

It is a beehive of activity as one drives on the project - heavy equipment moving materials to various sections on the site, workers at various elevations completing their tasks, dump trucks moving earth out of the compound and last but not least the shouts of both workers and supervisors as they holla to be heard over the noises generated by all the machinery.

One can clearly see the sense of purpose being exhibited by the CIE  workers as there seems to be a methodological approach going about their individual and group tasks. Different crews are involved in:-

• Form work on suspended slab for the Convention Centre
• Casting of graft foundation for the Sewer Treatment Plant
• Form work for casting of the Hideaway Restaurant
• Finishing and water proofing of tank  at Back of House

Speaking with the project manager Mr Roger Kalloo, he says he is very satisfied with the quality of work his workers are producing as well as the rate at which the work is going. When asked about a time frame for the completion of their specific project, he was unable to say. However with the rate at which his workers are pushing, he believes it won't be too long.

Rayneau’s Signature Gowns and Caps add a Touch of Class to Graduation Exercise (slide show)

The name Rayneau in St Lucia may be synonymous with construction and Industrial matters –  at least that’s how the general public sees the name. But behind the scenes Rayneau Gajadhar, CEO of Rayneau Group of Companies Ltd, continues to touch the lives of thousands of his country folks in all facets of their lives – be it humanitarian, education, health, infrastructural works - his  good heart overflows with kindness and a hunger to do good for people. This kindness many believe may have been developed during his humble upbringing. But more so, he is familiar with what living in rough times really is.

In a number of instances, whether directly or indirectly, Mr Gajadhar has contributed significantly and continues to advance the cause of education among young persons. He is of the view that education is the best tool to bring a positive change in society, to develop a generation of responsible individuals and contribute to the development of good human beings.

"Education serves as the means to develop oneself physically, mentally and socially." He reiterates. In the field of education, one will no doubt remember this contributions to the upliftment of Carmen Renee and Camille Henry schools, renovation works on the Entreport Seconday School, the Gen-X program, scholarship awards, junior schools calypso and most recently the construction of a classroom at a school to enhance the teaching of students with learning disabilities - just to mention  a few.

Mr Gajadhar’s latest act of generosity was directed at the Micoud Secondary School. After being contacted by the school authorities, the Team Leader of Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd (CIE Ltd) donated about 100 graduation gowns and caps totaling a sum of approximately $15,000.00 to the school for their 27^th Graduation Exercise for the students of “Class of 2016.” Each gown displays the company’s logo on the left upper side.

Though it has been an age-old tradition of graduates to wear graduation caps and gowns, Mr Gajadhar believes the cap and gown symbolizes how special the day is in that only those who have toiled and persevered are given the right to wear them.

The ceremony got underway at about 2:30pm and as graduands walked down the aisle to their respective seats, the cap and gown displaying Rayneau’s logo added to the feeling of pride that finally one chapter of the life has been successfully completed and that they can now advance to the next stage-thus, the term commencement, which means beginning rather than the end are what many people attribute the graduation ceremony to.

The ceremony was elaborate. It was held at the MSS Quadrangle under the theme: “If you will it, it will be yours, Desire, Pursue, and Conquer.” In attendance were Her Excellency Dame Perlette Louisy, Governor General, Parliamentary Representative for Micoud North, Monsignor Patrick Anthony, Guest speaker, Ms Zanette Mathurin, parents and other guests of interest to the school.

In closing, it must be mentioned here that every student I spoke with had words of praise for Mr Gajadhar. One female graduate puts simply,”Great fit, very comfortable and just wish I could have if for myself.” Another, “We could not ask for more. Class of 2016 gowns I am sure outclassed all graduation gowns on island.” Even the Governor General has her bit to say on the gowns and caps.

Mr Gajadhar and by extension CIE Ltd were showered with praises of thank you after a member of staff gave a short history of how the gowns finally got to them. The principal, Mrs A. Maryat, also added her voice. "Our 2016 graduands are clad in their new gowns today. Thanks to Mr. Rayneau Gajadhar of Rayneau Construction and Industrial Products who sponsored all these beautiful garments. Micoud Secondary School will remain eternally grateful to him. Thank you, sir, for your invaluable support."

Finally, to the graduates, Mr Gajadhar leaves them with this message: “Study while others are sleeping, work while others are loafing, prepare while others are playing, and dream while others are wishing; go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined."
