π BEYOND CONSTRUCTION: RAYNEAU TEAM MONTSERRAT STEPS ONTO THE CRICKET FIELD
Building structures. Building teams. Building community.
The familiar Rayneau orange will soon be seen in a very different setting in Montserrat.
Rayneau Team Montserrat has officially registered to participate in a local cricket competition, giving employees and supporters another reason to rally behind the men who are representing the company — this time not with concrete, steel and heavy equipment, but with bat and ball.
The announcement was made by Rayneau Group CEO Rayneau Gajadhar, who encouraged supporters to get behind the team as it prepares for local competition.
And perhaps there is something particularly fitting about that photograph of the team standing together.
These are men accustomed to teamwork.
On a construction site, no major project succeeds because of one individual. Engineers, equipment operators, tradesmen, supervisors, drivers and labourers have to depend on one another.
Cricket is not very different.
One batsman may score heavily. One bowler may produce a brilliant spell. But ultimately, matches are won by teams.
π️ From the Construction Site to Community Life
Rayneau's relationship with Montserrat is already substantial.
Through Construction & Industrial Equipment Ltd. (CIE), the Rayneau Group has been engaged in construction of Montserrat's new National Hospital — one of the island's major infrastructure developments.
The hospital project has progressed through foundations, reinforced concrete works, slabs and structural columns as the facility continues to take shape.
But a regional company's impact should not necessarily end when workers leave the jobsite for the evening.
There is another side to regional expansion — becoming part of the community in which you work.
Sport provides one of the simplest and most genuine ways of doing that.
When employees compete alongside local teams, interact with residents and participate in community sporting activities, relationships develop that cannot be created through contracts and construction schedules alone.
That is why the formation of Rayneau Team Montserrat deserves attention.
It represents another dimension of Rayneau's growing presence on the island.
π Cricket Runs Deep in Montserrat
Rayneau has also chosen a sport with deep roots in Montserrat.
Montserrat forms part of the Leeward Islands cricket structure, with the Montserrat Cricket Association belonging to the wider Leeward Islands cricket organisation. Montserratian players therefore exist within the wider pathway of Caribbean cricket.
The island has produced cricketers who have gone on to higher levels, including Lionel Baker, who represented the West Indies internationally.
The Montserrat Cricket Association has also been working to keep community cricket active.
Just one day before the Rayneau team's registration announcement, the Association staged its “Bash It Like A Calabash” Six-a-Side Tournament on Sunday, August 16, 2026, demonstrating the continuing appetite for shorter, exciting community cricket on the island.
That makes Rayneau's entry particularly timely.
π§ The Rayneau Orange Takes the Field
For supporters of the company, there will now be something different to look forward to.
Imagine the orange shirts walking onto the field.
Imagine employees who spend the working week concentrating on construction targets suddenly debating field placements, bowling changes and batting orders.
And imagine fellow workers and members of the Montserrat community lining the boundary supporting them.
That is what corporate sport can create.
It brings employees together outside the workplace.
It encourages fitness.
It builds camaraderie.
It provides recreation after demanding working weeks.
And perhaps most importantly, it allows workers who may come from different islands and backgrounds to become part of the community where they are presently living and working.
π€ ONE COMPANY — MANY TALENTS
At Rayneau Group of Companies, employees are not defined only by their job titles.
Behind the equipment operators, masons, carpenters, mechanics, engineers, supervisors and labourers are musicians, footballers, cricketers, fathers, community members and men with talents that may never be seen during the normal working day.
Activities such as cricket allow another side of those employees to emerge.
And that matters.
A strong company is not simply a collection of machines, contracts, offices and assets.
It is people.
π Now Comes the Competition
The most important details are still to come.
At the time of publication, an official fixture schedule identifying Rayneau Team Montserrat's opponents, match dates and venues had not yet been located in the publicly available competition information.
We will therefore be watching closely for confirmation of:
π Rayneau's first opponent
π
Opening match date
π Match venue
⏰ Start time
π Competition format
π Results and standings
Once those fixtures are released, Rayneau supporters in Montserrat — and those following the company across the Caribbean — will know exactly when to rally behind the team.
𧑠LET'S SUPPORT RAYNEAU TEAM MONTSERRAT
There will undoubtedly be boundaries struck, wickets taken, catches held — and probably a few friendly arguments over umpiring decisions along the way.
But beyond the scoreboard, something worthwhile is already happening.
A group of employees has come together.
A company working on one of Montserrat's significant development projects is becoming involved in another part of island life.
And the Rayneau orange is moving beyond the construction site and onto the cricket field.
So whether victory comes by ten wickets, one run or on the final ball, we wish the players well.
Play hard.
Play fair.
Represent the company proudly.
And enjoy the cricket.
π LET'S GO, RAYNEAU TEAM MONTSERRAT!
