In a groundbreaking
development, the Government of Montserrat has officially awarded the contract
for the construction of the highly anticipated new Glendon Hospital to Construction
and Industrial Equipment Ltd. (CIE), a subsidiary of the Rayneau Group
of Companies. The announcement was made during a parliamentary session by Minister
of Health, Dr. Ingrid Buffonge, marking a pivotal moment for healthcare on
the island.
This monumental
project, valued at XCD $102.8 million (£19.4 million), is funded under the FCDO’s
Capital Investment Programme for Resilient Economic Growth (CIPREG). CIE’s
exceptional reputation for quality work and timely delivery played a
significant role in securing this prestigious contract. Their successful
completion of the Marigot Hospital in Dominica stands as a shining example of
their commitment to innovation and efficiency.

The new state-of-the-art
healthcare facility will span over 75,000 square feet, featuring
advanced diagnostic and treatment centers, patient wards, a birthing center, an
operating theater, and more. This project is set to transform healthcare in

island’s residents.
Project Timeline
With groundbreaking scheduled for April 2025, CIE has pledged to deliver the hospital within two years. Despite earlier setbacks, the completion of this modern facility is expected to revolutionize healthcare standards in Montserrat, offering cutting-edge medical services in a world-class environment.
