MAJOR WORKS IN FULL FORCE ON THE VANARD (VENUS) TO ANSE LA RAYE LINK ROAD.

 General works - drainage, building retaining walls and road works are moving ahead at an incredible pace on the Venus to Anse la Raye Road says the Construction and Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd top engineer. This link road is of vital importance to the residents of the surrounding communities.

Since the sod-turming ceremony in March earlier this year works have been going on non-stop.

The complete works on the Vanard (Venus) to Anse La Raye Link Road under the"SLU-DVRP-VAB-RFB-RDS-01-21" consist of:

• Paving works
• Drainage works and culverts
• Gabion baskets
• Concrete works
• Retaining walls and slope stabilization

For many years the Vanard (Venus) to Anse La Raye link road has provided alternate and important access for commuters between the communities of Millet and Anse La Raye. After Hurricane Tomas in 2010 and the Christmas Eve Trough of 2013, the roadway, although still motorable, is compromised and in need of structural rehabilitation.

The project is made available through the cooperation between the European Union (EU) through the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the Government of Saint Lucia through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is expected to last twelve (12) months.

LA GUERRE'S STATE-OF-THE-ART SMART PRIMARY SCHOOL TO BE COMPLETED WITHIN A FEW WEEKS!

It's nothing new to know that CIE Ltd has a reputation for delivering quality workmanship within the stipulated time frame. The school should be completed in a view weeks, says an official within the company.

The sod-turning ceremony took place in early June 2021, and the construction works actually got underway in the first week of July.

The new smart La Guerre Primary school comprises a basement, ground floor and a top floor. The top floor houses four classrooms, a library/IT laboratory, and a music room. The ground floor accomodates four classrooms, a sick bay, the staff room and the principal's office. The basement has an open breezeway, male and female washroom facilities, and a janitorial storage area.

All major site  and structural works have been completed; including retaining and perimeter walls. Attention is now being shifted to the final touches to the outer perimeter which is necessary to alleviate the aesthetics before handing over.

VIDE BOUTEILLE NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL IS NOW "OPEN AND FUNCTIONAL."

The new academic year began on Monday and as promised Construction and Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd has made it possible for students to utilize the newly constructed primary school at Vide Bouteille. School is "open and functional" says Mr Jeffery McKie, a CIE official. A small contingent of workers are still on site mopping things up. 

It was June 24th  last year at the school grounds that Construction and Industrial Equipment (CIE) Ltd., in conjunction with the Ministry of Education officials held  a sod-turning ceremony was held  to mark the commencement of the construction of the new Vide Bouteille Primary School.  

Within eighteen days of the sod-turning  event, or the week after school closed for the Summer holidays CIE crews were already at work carrying out excavatory  works on site - July 12, 2021, to be exact!

CIE Ltd has delivered as promised when it said the the school will be ready for the New academice year. Congratulations for a job well done.

The new two-storey Vide Bouteille Primary School reinforced concrete building, takes up approximately total floor area of 13,571 sq. ft., which comprises of school teaching and administration space. It is set on a 43,044sq ft. lot. 

Other ammenities include: 

• an external area, open breezeway, 
• parking lot area  for staff, and visitors' vehicles connecting to the existing roadway, 
• wheelchair and pedestrian accesses to building, 
• septic system 
• rainwater harvesting system.

Historically, the majority of tropical storms and hurricanes that have impacted our island have occurred during the months of August and September. However, we are already in hurricane season, and a damaging storm can occur anytime between now and November.

Therefore, it is not too early to start preparing yourself, your family, your home, and your business for a tropical storm or hurricane.
