RAYNEAU GROUP OF COMPANIES LTD APPLAUDS TEACHERS' DEDICATION AND COMMITTMENT

What a teacher is, is more important than what he teaches ~ Karl Menninger

Saint Lucian teachers will be observing Teachers' Appreciation Week from  Sunday, Oct 1 - Sunday, Oct 8, 2023. Rayneau Group of Companies Ltd is honored to thank teachers across the country for the expertise, skills, and dedication they bring to their classrooms and students every day.

It is our company's belief that every child deserves access to a high-quality education, your commitment to your student’s well-being, and your deep-seated belief that education is the key out of generational poverty.

This year, Teachers' Appreciation Week celebrations will focus on the theme "The teachers we need for the education we want: The global imperative to reverse the teacher shortage."

Technology has made it easier for students to learn with devices new, but nothing can come close to the experience of being taught by an inspirational teacher like you.

Your passion and commitment are second to none, and we are proud to honour your success. You are making a lasting impact in your schools, your communities, and the teaching profession at large.

It is one thing to consider Teacher Appreciation Week as a triumph over the long odds of limited budgets, aging facilities, crowded classrooms, and wonky Internet connections.  That’s an important discussion to have, but this week it's more about those who serve, and what they leave their students with. In the end, that is all teaching ever was; it is what it must continue to be if our world is to continue to flourish.

The Management and Staff of Rayneau Group of Companies Ltd wishes you an enjoyable and productive -  HAPPY TEACHERS' APPRECIATION WEEK!!!!

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR HOME FROM A BURGLARY?

Burglary is mostly a crime of opportunity. This post contains tips on preventing home burglaries, vandalism, and other property crimes by controlling access, providing visibility, and maintaining your property. It also contains tips on protecting your home and property when you are away. These tips can significantly enhance the security of your home and property.

Very few Saint Lucians use a security system to protect their property and loved ones, and many don’t do anything at all to deter burglars.

However, studies show security systems do work as they point to increased security system use as the cause of decreasing burglary rates on the island. Numerous police officers have confirmed that many convicted burglars have confessed they would skip a home obviously protected by security equipment.

Be proactive, not reactive

We hate to see people suffer the emotional and financial losses that come with a burglary. That’s why we stick to our motto that safety is a lifestyle, not an afterthought or a reaction to something bad that already happened.

It’s not possible to guarantee that you won’t fall victim to a burglary, but there’s a lot you can do now to make it far less likely.

  • Stay off social media—at least when it comes to your home. 60% of the burglary victims we talked to said they were active on social media daily or several times a week. Posting plans about going out on the town or flaunting beach shots from your vacation is a neon sign to burglars that no one’s at home. Don’t tag your posts with your location or share vacation glamour shots while you’re still out of town.
  • Get insurance. One of the best ways to mitigate the fallout from a burglary is to get your valuables covered by renters or homeowners insurance. If you have irreplaceable items, consider a home safe that’s bolted down or too heavy for a thief to run off with.
  • Tend to your yard. Believe it or not, landscaping can play a role in keeping out the riff-raff. Keep shrubs and trees trimmed so they don’t become hiding spots. If you go on vacation, make sure someone mows the lawn while you’re gone so it doesn’t look like your house is vacant.
  • Install a home security system. You can get an alarm system with 24/7 professional monitoring for far less than the cost of the average burglary. Some DIY systems start out around $200 for equipment and have monitoring plans for as little as $10 a month. Plus, most burglars admit they’d skip a house with a security system to seek out an easier target.
  • Upgrade your locks. The locks that come standard on house and apartment doors aren’t usually the most secure. It’s easy to trade out a basic lock for one that has high-security standards and has a reputation for keeping criminals out.
  • Shore up weaknesses. Look for security vulnerabilities around your home. It could be anything from a sliding glass door to an unlit path from the car to the front door. Adding an extra lock or an outdoor light and motion detector. provides extra security and helps you sleep better at night.
  • Talk to the landlord. If you’re a renter, you’re at high risk for burglary. Read your lease and talk to your landlord about any security concerns you have. Ask if you can upgrade the lock in your apartment, or add a compact all-in-one security system.
  • Add a security camera. Sometimes all you need is an outdoor security camera to scare off a would-be intruder. Video doorbell cameras are another good way to keep tabs on your property and let the burglars know you’re watching.
  • Don’t wait. Too many people put off home security until after they’ve already been burgled. It’s easy to think that burglary is something that happens to “other people,” but the truth is it could happen to any of us. Take action now to make sure your home, valuables, pets, and people are all protected.

All of the above prevention tips can help deter your property from being stolen or help with property recovery and prosecution. The most important part of prevention is reporting all suspicious activities to your local Police Station and becoming active in your Neighborhood Watch Program.  A continued and strong partnership between the community and law enforcement discourages thieves from coming to your area to commit crimes.

CONSTRUCTION AND INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT LTD (CIE) OFFERS ITS SERVICES TO SOUTHERN EQUESTRIAN ALLIANCE PRO BONO!

This weekend the Southern Equestrian Alliance is holding “coudamain” to compliment the work Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd (CIE  has completed so far to bring back local horse racing at the old runway in Vieux-Fort (Caca Bef) the week-end before Creole Day.

Over the past weeks, CIE heavy equipment has been at work clearing the Caca Bef area and constructing a horse race track.

An official of the Southern Equestrian Alliance, is calling on all horsemen, friends, and well-wishers of the group to come together this weekend to give a Coudamein to expedite the work Mr Gahadhar’s company has been doing.

“I’m sending out a notification to all horsemen that want to see that happen. We’re going to have a Coudamein Saturday and Sunday [this weekend] to clear a part of the base, at the bottom of the base for corralling the horses……We have the commitment of Mr Rayneau, that he will be assisting us so we sending a general notification to all horsemen on the island and abled-bodied, to come with your weedeater and cutlasses to make that happen. Melchoir remarked

He continued, ''We have the support of a very influential person, so let's make the effort fellas, try and do something, Saturday and Sunday, 9 oçlock. We start to do some serious work because we do not have much time……this is a call out for a coudamein.”

The lull in the Alliance’s activities which for the past few years was due to the COVID pandemic as well as the crime situation in Vieux-Fort, is now back on a solid footing with approximately 40 members, who are all excited about the planned event

Melchoir told Loop News that the Alliance has already obtained permission from the St Lucia Air and Seaport Authority (SLASPA) to use the area for the race and has gotten some assistance from Rayneau Gajadhar in terms of clearing the tracks. He also wants the Alliance to teach young people the value of horses and the opportunities that exist in becoming a jockey.

Mr Gajadhar, CEO of the Rayneau Group of Companies is no stranger when it comes to Philantophy. Mr Gajadhar's philanthropic footprints can be seen all over the island. Recent works include the paving of Parliament Yard, assisting the St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Youth Club while on the island, and various other humanitarian works.

Assisting the Southern Equestrian Alliance gives Mr. Gajadhar great joy to be associated with this group and looks forward to a continued and lasting relationship.

About 30 horses from around the island are expected to take part in the event on the weekend before Creole Day, which is expected to attract a large crowd.  For security barricades on both sides of the track will be erected for the safety of the spectators.

YOUR AUTO WEEKEND TIP TO DEEP CLEAN YOUR CAR SEATS

It's hard to enjoy your driving experience if your car's interior isn’t clean and fresh. And it can be hard to keep things clean! Car seats, in particular, can accumulate dirt, spills, and stubborn stains over time. However, you don't need expensive cleaners to restore their pristine condition. Read on to learn about an effective and eco-friendly method to clean car seats using baking soda and vinegar. These household ingredients work wonders in removing stains, eliminating odors, and rejuvenating your car's interior.

Cleaning with baking soda and vinegar is a popular choice for many households due to its natural properties and affordability. Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate, acts as a mild abrasive and deodorizer. Vinegar, a versatile cleaning agent, contains acetic acid that cuts through grime and disinfects surfaces. Together, they form a powerful cleaning duo that is safe for most car seat materials.

Before diving into the cleaning process, prepare your car seats properly. Start by removing any loose debris, such as crumbs or dirt, using a handheld vacuum or a soft brush. This step ensures that the baking soda and vinegar mixture can penetrate the fabric or upholstery effectively.

Cleaning Process

Make the Baking Soda and Vinegar Mixture:

In a bowl, mix equal parts baking soda and vinegar until a paste-like consistency is achieved.

If the mixture appears too thick, you can add a few drops of water to thin it out.

Apply the mixture to the Car Seats:

Using a clean cloth or sponge, scoop a small amount of the baking soda and vinegar mixture.

Gently rub the mixture onto the stained areas of the car seats, ensuring even coverage.

For more substantial stains or odors, allow the mixture to sit for 15-20 minutes before proceeding.

            Scrub and Remove Stains:

With a soft-bristled brush or a clean toothbrush, gently scrub the treated areas in circular motions.

Focus on particularly stubborn stains or high-traffic areas.

Continue scrubbing until the stains start to fade.

Remove Excess Mixture and Odors:

Dampen a clean cloth with warm water and use it to wipe away the baking soda and vinegar mixture.

Ensure all residues are thoroughly removed to prevent any potential damage to the seats.

If any vinegar smell lingers, it will dissipate as the seats dry.

Tips

  • Test the baking soda and vinegar mixture on a small, inconspicuous area of your car seats before applying it to the entire seat.
  • Use a soft cloth or sponge to avoid scratching or damaging the seat's surface.
  • For leather car seats, it is advisable to condition them after cleaning to maintain their suppleness and prevent cracking.
  • Regularly vacuuming and wiping down your car seats can help prevent the buildup of dirt and stains, making future cleaning easier.

Cleaning your car seats with baking soda and vinegar provides an effective and affordable solution for removing stains and odors. These readily available household ingredients can effectively clean and refresh your car's interior. By following the steps outlined above, you can restore your car seats to their former glory, ensuring a clean and comfortable ride every time.

RAYNEAU INDUSTRIES CONTINUE TO ASSIST FARMERS IN ST VINCENT & THE GRENADINES

Goods ready for shipment
In March
this year, our blog reported a project being undertaken by Rayneau Industries in St Vincent & the Grenadines. Latest reports indicate that this project is expanding and has now gone to new levels, where the company is attempting to fill the hole left by the closing of Winfresh.

The formation of Rayneau Industries, a growing food export business in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, has taken on the task of providing a marketing platform, initially for the farmers of St Vincent and the Grenadines. The company focuses on purchasing, selling, and exporting rather than manufacturing goods.

Sabato Caesar

“The role of our agro-exporters is central to the growth of our agriculture sector. I am encouraged to see young traders from various communities in SVG, both rural and urban, investigating agricultural export potential,” says Saboto Caesar, Minister of Agriculture of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Earlier this year a list of commodities, butternut squash, cabbage, callaloo, dasheen, bananas, yams, plantains, ginger, eddoes, and turmeric, was exported via container from St. Vincent and the Grenadines to the United States Virgin Islands.

The company has begun shipping coconuts to the US Virgin Islands on a regular basis, giving growers another secure outlet. The emphasis is on purchasing coconuts in the Orange Hill area. Mr Gajadhar assured farmers that as exports widen purchasing will spread across the country.

Rayneau Gajadhar

“When I came to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, I was impressed by the high level of agriculture production,” Mr. Gajadhar said. “But I saw there was room for a major marketer to improve on the current marketing.”  About expanding the business, he assured, “I’ll start with St. Vincent and the Grenadines and then expand to other islands. Volumes will be required for this to work and it will rely largely, first and foremost, on all participants’ belief that we can do the work.”

The company is nearing the end of its first year of food export operations and has established a network of hundreds of farmers.

Rayneau Industries is in the process of hiring senior management and registering farmers in an OECS supply chain.

4 WAYS TO GIVE YOUR BATHROOM AN AWESOME MAKEOVER

Now is a great time to focus on those indoor renovations. A bathroom makeover is a great idea to make one of the most personal spaces in your home suit you better. Bathroom renovations also offer a great return on investment, as it may only take a few new fixtures or a fresh coat of paint to revitalize the space. Here are our five top picks for a brilliant bathroom makeover.

1  - New Fixtures

New fixtures can make a big impact on your bathroom. Older fixtures date your bathroom even if they are in good repair. More contemporary faucets for your tub or sink will also improve your bathroom esthetic as well as your water conservation. New models are not only stylish; they are more durable and can conserve water better.

When looking at new fixtures, don’t forget your shower, tub, and towel racks. Visit our store to see a full range of styles, colors, and finishes for any budget.

Replacing your toilet is an easy DIY job that doesn’t require many tools. If you need help choosing a new toilet or have questions about installation, our staff would be happy to explain the process.

2  -  Choose the Right Lighting

Lighting is one of the most critical features in your bathroom. In a room where people need to inspect their hair and faces, lighting is usually dim and concentrated only in one spot. It’s not just about bright lights. A very simple device that can add mood to your bathroom is a dimmer switch. The dimmer switch is perfect for late-night relaxing baths.

The best approach to a well-lit space is to incorporate layers of task, accent, ambient, and decorative lighting. Consult with a designer or one of our lighting specialists about getting your lighting right.

3  -  Convert Your Tub to a Shower

If you don’t take baths but have a bathtub, it’s basically a 5-foot by 2½-foot area that’s going to waste. Converting it to a shower is cost-effective because it would make use of the space that’s already there, and you wouldn’t have to reroute the plumbing.

Walk-in shower units are more accessible because you don’t have to climb over the edge of the tub. They also allow you to use the space better and will enable you to add features like a bench. Walk-in showers modernize bathrooms and are in demand if you are considering selling your home.

4  -  A Little Paint Makes a Big Difference

You can give your bathroom a whole new style with a new coat of paint. Fresh paint isn’t just about revitalizing a faded room; it is an opportunity to make a bold change to your bathroom. Perhaps a colour that complements that new vanity or something that speaks to your personality. Remember, we can color-match almost anything at Rayneau Construction and Industrial Products Ltd.

When painting a bathroom look for paint that will stand up to humidity and moisture. Our Ulttima semi-gloss paint is an excellent choice because it is durable, washable, and mildew-resistant.

The staff at Rayneau Construction and Industrial Products Ltd, stationed at Corinth (450-7247), Vide Bouteille (450-7246), Monchy (450-7248), or Babonneau (450-5759), has helped thousands with their home makeover or DIY projects. THE HSL 650-7A/HSL 850-7A - MASTERS OF THE JOBSITE!

Rayneau Rentals & Sales Ltd (RR&S) has introduced two high-powered, fuel-efficient skid steer loaders that the company says give users maximum flexibility. The HSL850-7A and HSL650-7A can handle a full spectrum of applications including construction, utility work, road maintenance, landscaping, and more, says the company.

The Hyundai Skid Steer Loader HSL850-7A and HSL650-7A are designed with plenty of power for maximum loading capacity along with excellent fuel efficiency. Hyundai skid steer loaders do more for less.

The HSL850-7A

The 7,253-pound HSL850-7A offers a compact size of 136.6 inches long by 72 inches wide as well as high production and performance with its 68 horsepower, water-cooled Kubota V3300DI engine. This makes it ideal for job sites where space is tight, but a large volume of material needs to be moved, according to the company. The HSL850-7A has a maximum dump height of 7 feet, 9 inches, and a powerful self-leveling control system. So, users benefit from shorter cycle times because the unit allows more efficient and stable lifting and dumping of material into truck beds and over retaining walls.

Hyundai’s HSL850-7A comes standard with a 74.6-inch wide, .48 cubic yard bucket.

The HSL650-7A:

The 5,787-pound Hyundai HSL650-7A is lighter and more nimble when operated in confined spaces, according to HCEA. But the 35.9 horsepower water-cooled Kubota V2203M engine makes it stable and strong enough to get the job done safely. The HSL650-7A also offers Hyundai’s powerful self-leveling control system and a maximum dump height of 7 feet, 3 inches. A 64-inch wide, .40 cubic yard bucket comes standard.

RR&S says both machines offer easy engine access, to minimize production delays. Safety is key in both units. Centralized fuse boxes make inspections easy, while the boom locking system makes service safe. A double safety cab feature enhances safety with its double-locking system.

The conventional buckets on these Hyundai skid steer loaders can be replaced with a variety of specialized buckets or attachments, many powered by the loaders’ hydraulic system. These include a backhoe, hydraulic breaker, pallet fork, angle broom, sweeper, mower, tiller, grapple, and trencher attachments, plus a variety of others.
