CIE Ltd Awarded 3 Contracts Under The Dominica BNTF 9th Programme


There can be no doubt that CIE’s professionalism, competence and work ethics must have greatly influenced the citizenry of Dominica to continue to have confidence in the company’s work in that it is able to deliver projects on time and with exceptional quality. Bravo to Rayneau Team!!!

Recently Construction & Industrial Equipment Ltd has been awarded three (3) contracts under the ninth (9th) BNTF programme by the Government of Dominica. They are namely:

  1. Castle Bruce Secondary School Production Facility
  2. Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities Development Centre
  3. Dominica Community High School Extension

The Government of Dominica was able to secure a grant from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) towards the cost of implementing the ninth (9th) Basic Needs Trust Fund (BNTF) programme. The funds provide the means to deliver basic public services to the people in vulnerable communities. 

Castle Bruce Secondary School Production Facility

At the signing ceremony, the project manager at the Basic Needs Trust Fund, Mr Michael Carette gave a detailed overview of the project. “This school production facility entails the construction of a concrete chicken coup with troughs and feeders. Provision is also made for small cages, hatching pens and breeding pens. The second component involves the construction of a concrete slaughter house with timber and metal roof.” He said.

Mr Carette also went on to mention the installation of  waste basins, knife sanitizers and aluminum tables as well as ,a the construction of a washroom facility..

Minister for Education and Parliamentary Representative for Castle Bruce, Octavia Alfred welcomed the initiative and believes that not only will this project prepare students for CXC,  but also present opportunity to engage in animal husbandry and fund raising for the school.

This project comes at a cost of $630,000.00.

Dominica Community High School Extension

This project which comes at a cost of $1.2M will consist of two concrete floor structures which will house a resource room, an auditorium, a library and a computer room.

The Minister of Sports, Culture and Community Development, Rosalyn Paul noted that the new extension will address the many challenges faced by the students.

The Parliamentary Representative for Roseau South Constituency Chekeri Lockart-Hypolite stated, “ I am grateful and humble for this contract signing as this marks yet another commitment to the improvement of communities in ways which impact families and individuals.” 

Dominica Association of Persons with Disabilities Development Centre  (DAPD)

Ms Gifta Eugene on behalf of CIE Ltd signing the contract for the DAPD Project.

This contract consists of the construction of a modern and resilient facility for persons with disabilities which is estimated at $900,000.00.

According to the Minister responsible for Dominicans with disabilities, “The Government…..continues to place the well-being of all citizens at the core of our development. We are therefore committed to the holistic development of all the members of the DAPD family.”

The Executive Director of the DAPD, Natalie Murphy, in her brief remarks felt assured that this new building will serve as a module of what a disability friendly building should look like. “…on completion the building is going to demonstrate what it is to build a physically accessible building. It will also serve as a model for other builders to build and create disability friendly facilities,” The CEO added.
