Banse/La Haut Road In Its Final Stages (slide show)

CIE's paving team will be in full force over the next six days as they take on the task of laying the final layer of asphalt on the Banse/La Haut Road. The final surface has now been laid from the last house in Banse to the La Grace Junction - superb work. The residents were overjoyed as they witnessed the quality of the work. According to a preschool teacher who shared her displeasure earlier after the "regulating surface" now openly took back her words. " I am so sorry for the comments I made earlier. I never imagined that's how the road would finally be. Thanks to Mr Rayneau. We can now boast of a high quality road which can match any in the country. Boy oh boy! Banse is grateful.On behalf of the Banse residents, I say thank you for a job well executed."

Bon Jounen Kweyol Sent Lisi!

Last year’s activity at the RCIP Ltd grounds was well received by all – staff and customers alike. The food, the local juices,the delicacies,the music, the side attractions like bamboo bursting, a Kweyol joke here and there, create an ambiance worthy of mention.

Jounen Kweyol is an annual celebration of Creole culture in St. Lucia. The activity is held the last Sunday of October, and has been celebrated in St. Lucia since 1984.

At Rayneau Construction & Industrial Products Ltd, we have our own local celebrations involving the staffs on the Friday before the National Celebrations. Clients and customers who come in to shop can partake in our creole celebrations. The shopping experiences coupled with the activities on the grounds are unique to our business place. On that day we encourage Kweyol as the preferred language when doing business “C’est twadisyon Jounen kwéyól nou.”

CIE's Southern Plant - Service Beyond Expectation - Meeting People's Needs With Quality!

 The plant is situated near the “Kaka Bef” in Beanefield, Vieux Fort, about 100 metres from the airport travelling to Castries.

The Plant which is manned by approximately twelve persons -  Plant Supervisor Mr George Alexander,Concrete Plant Assistant/Sales Clerk  Ms Dedanier Jn Baptiste,Plant Operator Mr Limuel Auguste, and a fleet of operators  and drivers. Frequent visits by high officials from the Head Office are a norm at the plant.

The plant produces and sells, concrete mixes, sea sand, mixed aggregates, raw and washed pumice, aggregates of various sizes – ½”, ¼” and ¾”, Concrete blocks - 4,6 and 8”, and cement which is the cheapest in the south at present. About our blocks, Nicholson Citolene, a small contractor/builder said - "I like everything about shopping here, for example the blocks, some of you’ll blocks already have the mark out for half. Other places they don’t; with the mark out for half when I hit it once or twice I get half  block already but with the other places I would have to waste a whole block or two before I get a perfect half."

The plant which has a capacity to produce concrete at 150 cu.m per hour, is fully automated and can produce varying strengths: from 3000 psi to 4000 psi. The plant’s working hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. On Saturdays 8:00am - 12:00pm

Rayneau’s Concrete Plant in the South of the island has earned a reputation as the "top plant" because of the quality of the product, the consistency of the concrete mixes, the reliability to produce and deliver to the customer regardless of location and most of all the follow-up after the product has been delivered. We spoke to a few customers who came in to shop at our Southern plant and asked them a variety of questions to get their responses and their take on our operations. Here are the questions put to them and their responses.

CSR: Do you enjoy shopping at Rayneau, and what do you like best shopping here?

Nickson  Albert - Yes. Because the quality of the materials are very good and the service is fast. I never have to wait to get served.

CSR:What led you to come and shop at Rayneau?

Thomas Faucher - Got a disappointment from my previous supplier and a friend recommended Rayneau to me. When I tried the materials I got a better job and quality out of the materials. Though it’s expensive than the others, but it is worth the price.

CSR: How was your shopping experience?

Mc Iva Mesidore - The service is fast,efficient and there is no congestion. I think a delivery service is needed here to help the customers who have no transportation. Your materials especially the aggregates are of good quality. I see your business going places.

Hewanorra International Airport Apron - A Masterpiece In The Making

Rain or shine, night and day CIE Ltd is giving the works on the Hewanorra Airport Apron its best shot. Work has been completed on  the reinforced concrete encasing of existing culverts except where SOL have to do their electrical and mechanical part. SOL has not started their part resulting in hindrance of work.  About 50% of the work will be held up because of this.

Speaking with a SOL representative from the Vieux Fort terminal, he made mention that works are presently going on and that SOL has no time frame in which to finish the works. According to him SOL’s work is to install hydrants below ground which is required to store fuel.

The apron is a busy place; the area at the airport where aircraft are parked and serviced. It’s the part of the airport where vehicles and airplanes share the same space. The many movements on the apron are not generally controlled by the air traffic control tower.

Work is continuing on the completion of the sub-base and soon, the  base work will commence. According to the site engineer, Vinay, “The base works need to be done in three compacted layers before starting the asphalt work.” The asphalt work is the final layer

A night shift

There is talk about doing 50% of asphalting and then doing the balance after SOL finishes   its underground works. That means the asphalt may have to be done in two installments. In spite of SOL’s delay work is moving along steadily.
