BONN FÈT JOUNEN KWÈYÒL SÈNT LÌSI!!

The grand finale of St Lucia’s 39th Creole Heritage Month, Jounen Kwéyòl, climaxes today Sunday, October 29, 2023, at various venues around the island - Soufriere, Canaries and Mabouya Valley.

The theme for this year's Creole Heritage Month is "Kwéyol-Wasin Pép-La: Creole: The Root of the People." This theme encapsulates the essence of the celebration, emphasizing the integral role that Creole culture plays in shaping the identity and history of the Saint Lucian people.

Jounen Kwéyòl, also known as “Creole Day,” is a special time on the island of Saint Lucia. Observed on the Sunday closest to the 28th of October, this day celebrates the French/African dialect widely spoken in Saint Lucia.
A unique mix of creole (Kwéyòl) food, music, games and folklore give this festival a wholly unique flavor, unlike anything else in the Caribbean.

The Management and Staff of Rayneau Group of Companies extend “An Bonn Fèt Kwéyòl” to all our customers, clients, friends, well-wishers, and by extension all St Lucians both here and in the diaspora.

Go out and enjoy the good food and drinks available. Sèlèbwè èk wèspè èpi lapè!

                  Bon Fete Kweyol Sent Lisi!

ENHANCE YOUR HOME SECURITY WITH PROPER WINDOORS AND DOORS

Improved home security begins with strengthening weak areas throughout your home. Doors and windows need to be as durable and break-in-proof as possible if you are going to feel safer when you lock up at night and each time you leave the residence.

Not all criminals care about being quiet when they break in. In fact, the louder a criminal is, the more worrisome the situation can be. A loud criminal may be high on drugs, in the middle of a mental breakdown, or feel they have nothing to lose. This type of criminal will pose the greatest risk to your safety.

There is an upside to a criminal being loud and that is it gives you more time to call the police and hide or get out of the house safely. The information below will educate you on ways you can make it more difficult for a criminal to enter your home, giving you more time to react.

Doors Must Be Solid
Hollow doors make it easy for a criminal to bow the door inward and pop it open through force. Hollow doors can also be kicked through and even if the door doesn't open, the criminal can crawl through the door. Have your hollow doors replaced with solid wood doors to enhance your home security. Verify the doors have high-quality deadbolts on them to prevent crafty criminals from picking the lock to enter.

Door Frames Must Be Strong
A door is only as secure as the frame it is attached to. When you have your new wood doors installed, verify the frames are free of previous damage or weak areas. Otherwise, the door may hold up well if a great deal of pressure is applied to it, but the frame won't hold out. As soon as the frame separates from the wall, the criminal can enter the house.   Shop our doors HERE!

Windows Must be Durable
Windows is one of the easiest areas to break into most homes. Criminals may rarely use
rocks or other nearby heavy objects to break the glass of the window. However, more often they will use your window's loose frame to push the window open or remove it entirely.

Safety glass can prevent criminals from breaking the window. Double-paned windows even make it more difficult and louder for criminals to break through the window. New windows and frames with high-quality locks help prevent criminals from breaking into your home through a window by securing the frame.  Check out our wide range of windows by contacting our numbers below.

If you're ready to get started on improving your home's security by having more secure doors and windows installed, then you should contact us now or pay us a visit at our Corinth (450-7247) Monchy (450-7248) Vide Bouteille (450-7246) or Babonneau (450-5759) branch - We are here to discuss your needs and to help you select the best ones for your needs and to install them for you. #ShopRayneau #EverythingUnderOneRoof

Our Customer Sales Representatives understand our products’ features and this allows them to present the products’ benefits accurately and persuasively. We know that customers respond to enthusiastic sales representatives who are passionate about their products and eager to share the benefits. Routinely every week every CSR must choose a product of his/her choice and describe it to his/her co-workers. This form of weekly training keeps our staff well informed about our products.

From the time you enter, you are greeted by the warmest of persons – whether it is our Greeter or a sales representative, you are immediately treated as family. That means your purchase of goods or services at Rayneau is a great way to “pay it forward.”

A MASON'S TOP 10 TOOL LIST FOR HIS NEXT CONCRETE JOB

No matter how many times you've set out to tackle a concrete job, big or small, there are specific regulation tools that you can turn to time and again to help you complete the task. But, no two tools are the same, and the marketplace offers a wide variety of concrete tools, from high-end to "don't even bother". The seemingly endless selection can make even the most seasoned mason's head spin.

Here are some of the tools you will need for your next concrete job and some options to consider. (In no specific order.)

Wheelbarrows

You may believe one heavy-duty wheelbarrow, made for hauling concrete and carrying tools, is just like any other. However, there are numerous things you will want to consider when choosing a wheelbarrow for your task. The wheelbarrow should be sturdy and robust enough to withstand anything you throw at it. One excellent (and affordable) option is the Pro-Yard Wheel Barrow 6 cu. ftwhich comes with steel handles.

Portable Mixers

Portable mixers are great for medium-sized jobs, those that are too large to mix in a wheelbarrow but not quite large enough for a large concrete mixer truck. It is a must-have for any professional who tackles a variety of jobs, large or small. Portable mixers can be electric or gas-powered and can easily fit in the back of most trucks. A great option is the mixer by Multiquip -  the Multiquip MC12PH Towable Concrete Mixer.

Vapor Barriers

Vapor barriers are regularly applied to concrete slabs to stop moisture. They are also referred to as "vapor retarders" and help the concrete cure.

Vibrators

Vibrators work to settle and compact concrete during the pour or in finishing. They shake wet concrete to eliminate air pockets. You can choose from internal, form, surface, or table vibrators. We offer the Electric Flex Shaft Concrete Vibrator.  Other models like the Kormax Concrete Vibrator or the Oztec Concrete Vibrator, range in price depending on what type of vibrator you choose to work with. Often, it comes down to either the scope of the job or personal preference.

Screeds

Screeds smooth and level freshly poured concrete, so they are integral to any concrete worker's bag of tricks. You can choose a power screed like the Mulitquip Duoscreed.

Floats

Floats, much like screeds, create a smooth finish to your freshly poured concrete. They are relatively inexpensive but essential to have around for any professional.

These tools create and control joins on all manner of concrete work, from sidewalks to driveways. Most are handheld devices.

Plate Compactor

A good concrete pour is nothing without a tightly packed sub-base. Plate compactors range wildly in terms of quality and price. Our Honda GX100 Jumping Jack 3hp  4-cycle Tamping Rammer power plate compactor which is durable and tough should get the job done and won't break the bank.

Rotary Hammers & Power Drills

These items can be essential for finishing any concrete job, whether attaching items to foundations or chiseling into finished dried concrete. Like most heavy power tools, these can range in quality and price. What you need will depend on the size of the job. We offer a highly-rated power hammer the Makita Rotary Hammer Spline

Saws

In order to demolish and remove old concrete or cut and control concrete joints, you're going to need a saw. When shopping for saws, look for a good quality diamond blade. There's a wide variety of options from the high-end Core Cut CC1200XL 14" & 18" Concrete Saw to the less expensive saws, which despite its smaller price tag comes highly recommended.

Additional specialty tools, such as polishers or walk-behind trowels, can add value to anyone's on-the-job toolbox. When seeking to build your collection of concrete working tools, be sure to read reviews. Don't be afraid to ask Rayneau Rentals & Sales (RRS) what our recommendations may be. With so many options at your fingertips, it helps to take your time and be a discerning consumer before you tackle your next project.

In conclusion, a mason's success on a concrete job depends on the quality and reliability of their tools and equipment. By investing in high-quality tools and equipment, masons can ensure accurate measurements, consistent concrete mixes, and superior finishes.

10. Decorative Storage Containers: After the holiday season, having decorative storage containers will help you organize and protect your decorations until the next year. Look for containers with dividers or compartments to keep delicate ornaments safe.

5 WAYS TO GET READY FOR CHRISTMAS IN OCTOBER

Christmas Day is exactly 10 weeks away. While you probably have  National Day on your mind, it’s not too early to start shopping and planning for Christmas. In fact, getting a head start on the holiday season can help you save money and keep on track with your gift budget.

Here are 5 Ways to Get Ready for Christmas in October:-

1  -  Create a gift list
First, decide to whom you’re giving gifts. Immediate family is obvious, but don’t forget others like teachers and co-workers, even if their gift is just something small.
Now that you know who, you can start working on the what. The key to giving thoughtful gifts is being observant. Pay attention to family and friends' interests and needs. When you notice something that inspires a gift idea, jot it down on your list, so you don’t forget.

2  -  Set a budget
Once you know how many gifts you need, you can decide how much to spend. For this, you’ll need to look at your income and monthly expenses and determine how much you can spend on gifts
Once you have the big number for your budget, decide how much you want to spend on each person on your list. This prevents you from blowing the whole budget on a few people before you have a chance to shop for everyone.
And remember, a bigger gift isn’t always better. A small, thoughtful gift can have just as much meaning. #ShopRayneau for your gifts this year.

3  -  Start saving cash
The other step you can take once you establish a budget is to start saving and putting money for gifts aside. If you can put away just $40 a week for the next 10 weeks, you’ll have $400 the week before Christmas. That’s a decent-sized chunk of money to take to the store. Obviously, some folks can save a little more each week and some less. The point is, that it’s not too late to start saving for Christmas.

4  -  Take advantage of sales now
If you have your Christmas cash available already, you don’t need to wait for month-end November to take advantage of sales and discount prices. Most stores aren’t waiting for November either to offer low prices. When you see a good deal in October, don’t pass on it just because it’s not really Christmas shopping season yet. Start thinking of the Christmas shopping season as all year! Keep checking our Facebook page for offers.

5  -  Shop early for décor items, Navita Designs is back!
Decorations items for Christmas go like hot cakes since shop retailers, and homeowners buy these to start their early décorations. Start shopping for décor supplies from Navita Designs now at our Vide Bouteille branch.

Find:-
  • Christmas trees up to 12ft

  • Camels
  • Reindeer and sleighs up to 5 ft.

Plus other large commercial décor.

You don’t want to find yourself furiously shopping for the best decor during the week before Christmas.
