HOW TO SOLVE 3 COMMON ROOF PROBLEMS?

The roof of your home is your first line of defense against the elements. As such, any common roofing problems should be dealt with as a matter of urgency. However, it’s understandable that not all of us are roofing experts and it might be hard to know what’s wrong with your roof and how to fix it. Rest assured that in this article we’ll be listing some of the most common roofing issues to look out for as well as what you can do to solve them to prevent damage to your home from the weather and debris.

1.    POOR INSTALLATION: Not confident in your roof installation company? It’s likely that a roof which has been improperly installed will cause problems further down the line. Whether the tiles have been laid wrong, allowing water to enter the property, or the seals – using flashing – around joints hasn’t be applied correctly, you’ll be paying more for repairs than you might have saved using a cheap company.

Solution: Only use a reputable and reliable company (CIE Ltd) – this includes for roof maintenance and repairs if you’ve found a previous company that did a poor job.

2.    LEAKY ROOF: Rain, and general moisture collecting on your roof can easily make its way into your property, wreaking havoc if you have leaks in your roof. A leak may initially be hard to spot, but if it’s because of a nail which has been improperly hammered you might notice damp stains in the area.

Solution: Depending on your familiarity with roof repairs, it could be a simple task – but it’s always advisable to get a professional to take a look as there could be a wider issue on the outside of the roof even if you know when the leak is on the inside.

3.  GUTTER PROBLEMS: Gutters are important for diverting rainwater away from a property. Without this crucial addition to your roof, water would pour down your walls and even settle around your property, causing bigger problems for your home. Where guttering is not aligned properly, blocked or is missing the correct apron, you’ll find you have issues with water damage.

Solution: Regular maintenance of your gutter to clear our debris should help prevent blockages, but where damaged or poorly installed guttering is an issue, you may need to call on a professional for dedicated guttering services for your property.

No one wants to wrestle with damp problems,, or worse, structural issues. Having a company like Construction and Industrial Equipment Ltd provide repairs and maintenance can help protect your home and will see it last longer than if you try to tackle complex tasks yourself – especially when it comes to emergency roofing repairs.

4 Signs that the Electrical System at Home Needs Updating

Many of us do not think about the electrical systems in our houses until we have to. Electric problems can lead to prolonged blackouts, equipment damage, and fires and this is when most people start wondering if their electrical systems and circuits are in top condition and if they need an upgrade. However, you don’t have to wonder anymore as a simple check can let you know the state of your electrical systems and help you decide if it is time for an update.

Flickering or Dimming Lights

Dimming lights are a great indicator that there is a problem with your electric circuits. Dimming lights can indicate that your circuits are bearing a heavier load then they were designed for. This often happens when you plug in a new appliance or switch one on.

Flickering lights indicate that your electric circuits have a problem, especially if you have this happening to multiple lights.

Warm, Discoloured or Sparking Sockets

Warm plug sockets indicate that they are bearing a heavy load or that the contact points are not connecting properly with the contacts on the plugs you are using. This leads to the discolouration you see on the socket or sparks that appear when you plug in or unplug an appliance.

Tripping Circuit Breakers

Tripping circuit breakers are an obvious sign there is a problem with your electric circuits. It may be that it is carrying a load it wasn’t designed for, or that there is a short circuit somewhere in the system. To eliminate all problems and ensure solving the circuit in one part of the house does not cause problems in another part, it is a good idea to add extra circuits or simply upgrade your wiring.

There are too many Appliances Plugged in

When you run out of sockets, it is tempting to buy cords and strips so that you can power all your appliances. If you are running out of sockets and find yourself opting for strips and cords, it is time for an upgrade.

It is also important to remember that if you  no longer have enough sockets, it is likely that your electricity consumption has also gone up. This means there is a lot of strain elsewhere in your electric circuits, which makes a strong case for an update.

It is important to keep an eye on your electric circuits, so you know when they are being tasked with doing more than they were designed to handle. If you have any issues with your electric circuits or if they are quite old, it is better to upgrade the whole system than to carry out smaller repairs as those can add up over time.

5 EASY INDOOR HOME IMPROVEMENT PROJECT IDEAS TO DO OVER A WEEKEND.

Here are some great indoor home improvement project ideas that will keep you busy during the first quarter of the New Year. These simple projects will bring about positive changes and upgrades in your home that can increase the property value and save in your energy costs.

1. Paint– Paint is the easiest way to transform a room or just freshen it up. A quality paint job with the right color will help the rooms in your home look new, clean, and up to date. Whether you know exactly what color and finish you want or don’t know where to start, we can certainly help. Our paint team offers expert guidance and advice.

2. Change Out Light Bulbs– It’s a great time to replace light bulbs that have burned out. You should consider switching to LED bulbs. Typically you can save over 80% in energy costs by using LED bulbs- they consume a lot less energy and last for up to 20 years before you would have to replace them so they are virtually maintenance free.

3. De-clutter & Organize– Make sure all the items in your home have their place in a neatly stored and labeled container. This helps make your life easier and saves you so much time when you need to access these items. There are common areas in the home which tend to serve as storage and become overly stuffed and disorganized such as garages, and closets. These are typically the catchall places for an assortment of household goods. However with some shelving, storage totes, and an organization plan, these areas of your home will be in order and function much better for you.

4. Install A Kitchen Backsplash-A kitchen backsplash can bring color and texture into your design and accent your countertops and cabinets. Or if your kitchen is already full of color, a neutral kitchen backsplash can bring a sleek and elegant look to the room.

5. Update Your Bathroom-Making small changes in our bathroom can have a huge impact. Update your faucet and shower fixtures to something a bit more modern. Paint your bathroom with soothing softer colors like (blue, muted pink, grey, white) to create a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere. Change your bathroom accessories (rug, towels, trashcan, etc) to a new colour also.

If you have a question about any of these projects, you can visit our  Corinth (450-7247) Monchy (450-7248) Vide Bouteille (450-7246) or Babonneau (450-5759) branch, email us or visit us on Facebook.

"BE BETTER IN 2021" - MESSAGE FROM RAYNEAU

Mr Rayneau Gajadhar, CEO/Team Leader of Rayneau Group of Companies recalls that last year was a challenging yet prosperous  year; he extends thanks to his teams for their effort, energy, resilience and commitment.  '"It’s hard to believe that 2020 is over, and we are into 2021, with new goals, and new partnerships," he reiterates.

Our Team Leader believes that in spite of the CoronaVirus Pandemic which has affected many businesses locally as well as regionally, that, as we start this New Year with greater clarity, a greater determination to succeed and a renewed commitment to provide exceptional customer service, we must ask just one thing from each of us as employees – BE BETTER.

• Be better in our work – think creatively, efficiently and get the details right.
• Be better with our customers – in how we prepare, how we communicate and how we add value.
• Be better with our teammates – in how we support each other, how we communicate and how we care about them as people.
• Be better in our community – in how we give of our time and effort to make our town, city, village or neighborhood a great place to live.

• Be better to ourselves – in our self-talk, in our personal expectations and in our commitment to being all that we can be.

Mr Gajadhar is convinced that we control how we approach our days in and out of the office or work site. He also thinks we must commit to being better every day, learn more, be more responsive, be more connected, be more aware, be tougher, be more resilient, be more creative and be more present.  In short, we should just be better.

The leader extends thanks to every member of his team for their loyalty and effort; he looks forward to a great, productive and successful New Year.
