6 DIY PROJECTS TO BREATHE NEW LIFES INTO YOUR HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

If you’re feeling unsatisfied and complacent with the look of your home, you’re not alone. After living anywhere for long enough, it’s only natural that it’s going to start feeling kind of stale. After all, “familiarity breeds contempt” might be a cliche but that doesn’t make it any less true.

But don’t worry; we’re here to help. You can make your home feel fresh and new again with only a few simple changes. We’ve decided to take a look at a six, could they work for you?

But first things first: Season's Greetings! Yes, just in case it crept up on you, Christmas 2021 is only 25 days away and its  time to get started on your Christmas shopping plans.

However, in between frantically buying presents and ensuring your fridge is well stocked; it can be easy to neglect your home during the festive period. If you are entertaining family and friends or simply want to make the most of your living space, home improvements can breathe new life into a property and ultimately make everyone happy.

So whatever you're thinking of doing, Rayneau has selected six home improvement ideas to freshen up your surroundings and ensure your house looks its best for the holiday season and beyond.

Get A Deep Clean:

If you want to make your home feel brand new again, you’re going to have a give it a good clean first. A clean house is a clean mind, after all.

Whilst you may be used to doing your weekly house clean, this is going to need a little more elbow grease. Take the time to pull everything out and give it a scrub, leave no surface un-wiped and no cupboard un-searched.

Every home can benefit from a deep clean and it will instantly make your home feel and definitely smell fresher.

Transform your kitchen:

Painting your kitchen cabinets is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to create a new look. With a cream background, it’s easy to give your kitchen a fresh feel by choosing from the latest colours available or wallpaper is a great way to add colour and vibrancy to an old kitchen. You can either cover the entire wall, or create an feature wall for a cheaper but equally stunning look. Make sure you choose wallpaper that is specially designed for the kitchen so it is heat and steam resistant.

Liven up your living room:

Try placing a large mirror on a bare, boring wall. Choose an interesting frame or decorate a piece of mirror with cording or braid. If you have an old frame, consider painting it a bright color. The mirror will reflect the color from around the room and add light to the space or you will find that you can add a real punch of color by painting just one wall of your living room. This will really change the focal point of the living room without getting into a major decorating project. Any change in color will add interest and splash!

Upgrade your bathroom:

Updating your faucet with a new low-flow model is a relatively inexpensive way to cut water consumption while adding a refreshed look to your sink area. And since it’s one of the most commonly used items, a new faucet is a great way to display your personal style.

Showerheads and hand showers add a nice touch to your overall bathroom design while making your showering experience more enjoyable. Replacing a showerhead can be a quick and inexpensive project.

Hand showers can be used as a fixed shower or hand-held for maximum versatility. Drill-less models provide easy installation.

Spruce up your patio porch or yard:

Spruce up your space and green it with some of your favorite potted plants. You can fit several varieties of plant, of different heights, in each planter to maximize the “wow” factor, and make the most of their space at the same time. You can also use hanging planters, which trail down and form a sort of green curtain that’s lovely too. If space is really tight, consider a vine like a perennial rose or an evergreen ivy that can climb right up a wall. These spread quickly, add a dramatic, lush look, and are easy to grow, all at once.

Give the entryway a makeover:

Sidelights, or vertical windows on the side of an entryway door, can give a unique touch to the look of a house. Not only does it add another layer of design to the front door, but it also allows more light inside. Unfortunately, if your home doesn’t already have one, it could be difficult to construct space for them, but if you do have some already in place, it can be relatively easy to upgrade to a new style.

SIMPLE PAINTING TIPS FOR THE PERFECT PAINT JOB THIS FESTIVE SEASON

Colour is powerful, paint is protective and affordable. Together they bring out your home's best exterior features. Transform your paint brush into a magic wand with these simple tips!

When you drive up to your home do your eyes see eww or ahh? Come home to a place that looks just the way you always dreamed. Create property-value boosting eye appeal by using the perfect colour combinations of the various brands of paint we sell to capture your home's greatest exterior architectural assets.

.
When painting exterior features, the fixed assets of your home, the roof, brick, awnings etc., will be your guide. Take inspiration from a simple, handy-dandy tool called the Colour Wheel from Harris paint so you can create the perfect colour combinations, or schemes, to help you discover what works best for your home.

Consider the colour schemes of your neighborhood. Too much originality can make your home a landmark, and not in a good way.

Only perfect diamonds are flawless. Use colour to direct the eye to your home's best features. Emphasize attractive architectural features with a contrasting colour. Diminish flaws by painting them the same colour as the background.

When choosing colours, take it outside! Colours will appear much lighter outdoors so that is where you should be making your final choices.

Want to make your home your castle? Light colours will make a house look larger.

More minimalist? Your home will appear smaller and blend into the landscape if you choose dark colours.

Want an instant WOW with just a litre of paint? That's all it takes to transform your front door with a gorgeous colour that commands attention.

Your aluminum storm door should stop weather, not traffic. Instead of making it the centre of attention, make a strong colour statement by using Rust-Oleum Door Paint to paint storm doors to match entry doors.

Speaking of attention seeking, don't let your garage door take top billing over your front door. If painted the same colour, your eye is drawn to the larger block of colour, the garage! Instead, try painting the garage doors in a similar colour as the surrounding exterior wall for a more cohesive look.

OUR RENTALS AND SALES WEBSITE IS BACK ONLINE

About a month or so ago Rayneau Rentals and Sales website went offline for an update. We are now able to provide our readers with a shorter URL for the website. Although search engines can handle long URLs, refining their structure provides a better user experience (UX) and have a small, positive impact on rankings.

URLs are important links between our visitor and our content. Our internet technician experts saw the value in optimizing the previous URL for readability, particularly as the incorporation of keywords (rayneau, rentals)  can help users effectively navigate around the site. We want to ensure that our visitors spend as much time as possible on our site.

With this in mind, we are  happy to announce that the website is now online with the new and short URL www.rentals.rayneau.org. This is in keeping with the company's policy to rebrand all its sites with  "Rayneau."

The home page is very impressive as it allows users access to any of our 9 outlets - St Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, Grenada, Tortola, Montserrat, St Martin, St Vincent and the Grenadines, St Lucia and Guyana to search any of the respective branches.

A home page image

The site apart from the slideshow format home page has 5 more pages:
  • Heavy equipment Sales
  • Heavy equipment rentals
  • Small tools rentals
  • Service and parts
  • An informative page - About Us
Each page is further divided into many sub-headings. The construction of the site is in no way complete since our techies  are continuously looking for new ways to make the site more user friendly and interactive.

Check out our site and send us your feedback in the comments  section below. Shop with Rayneau Rentals and Sales today or call us at 450 - 7368 for any queries.

4 LAWN CARE TOOLS TO GIVE YOUR LAWN THAT MAGIC TOUCH FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON

November is already on your doorstep and you’re already planning what has to be done at home for the Holiday Season. It’s early morning  and you lean over your verandah’s railings looking over the yard and that “Ahah” moment catches you.  The lawn is a good place to start you say to yourself. Great thought!

At Rayneau Rentals & Sales, we believe there are certain tools that every homeowner should have for proper upkeep of their lawn. Whether you want to have a lush green lawn during the summer months, want to have your lawn free of leaves in the fall or anything in between, it is important to have the proper equipment on hand to have a yard that will be the envy of the neighborhood.

#1. Lawn Mower

The first and most obvious lawn care tool you will need is a lawn mower. No matter if you prefer a push or riding lawn mower, it’s essential that you have a reliable mower to keep grass from growing too high. Regularly mowing your lawn will not only have it looking its best, but it will also promote stronger grass, will help grass grow evenly and can even assist with pest prevention.

#2. String Trimmer

Also known as a weed eater, a string trimmer will get to those hard to reach areas that your lawn mower can’t quite get at. A string trimmer is easy to use and can help clean up grass around the base of trees, along the edge of walkways, patios and more.

#3. Hose/Sprinkler System

Once you have laid down grass seed and fertilizer, you need to make sure it is getting the right amount of water. This of course depends on the weather, but it’s important to regularly water your lawn during drier months. This can either be achieved with a hose or a convenient sprinkler system that can be set to work on a timer at certain points of the day.

#4. Leaf Blower

When it comes to lawn care when the trees have shed all their leaves, there’s no better tool than a leaf blower. A leaf blower will allow you to quickly and conveniently move leaves off of your lawn and tidily pile them up for removal. If you prefer a more traditional method of leaf cleanup, a leaf rake will do just fine.

Should you own some or all of these tools and are looking for other ways to improve your lawn, we invite you to reach out to our team at Rayneau Rentals & Sales. We offer a wide range of lawn and yard equipment for rental to help you complete more complicated projects. Call today at (758) 450 7368 to learn more.
